Sincerity

An honest journal, grounded in scripture

Give thanks, lament, or just write. Start from a passage of the Bible, and find every entry again on any phone you sign in on.

Tell us which phone you use, and we’ll send an invitation.

Starting a new entry: the choice between Lament, Give thanks and Just write, over the day’s passage.

Inside

Three ways to write

Choose what you are bringing. Each kind of entry has its own shape, and all of them live in one journal.

Lament

For what hurts. Walked through the four movements the psalmists used: address, complaint, request, trust.

Give thanks

For a good day and what made it one. Name who you are thanking, say what happened, and tell it.

Just write

No shape asked of it. A title if you want one, and whatever is on your mind.

Scripture first

Start from a passage

Every day opens on a passage to sit with. Write from it, or add any passage to an entry, and the verses stay beside what you wrote. Search finds them again by reference.

A Just write entry begun from Psalm 40:12, with the passage shown above the page.
Today’s passage Psalm 13:1–2

How long?

How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long must I wrestle in my soul, with sorrow in my heart each day? How long will my enemy dominate me?

Four questions, no answer offered. The complaint is allowed to be the whole prayer for a while.

The whole Berean Standard Bible is inside the app, so every passage you read and write from is looked up, never generated.

Lament

Room for the prayers that aren’t tidy

Roughly a third of the Psalms are laments. The composer walks you through their shape one movement at a time, and saves as you write.

The lament composer on its first movement, headed “Name the One who hears”, with covenant names to choose from and Psalm 13 for reference.
  1. Address

Say who you are talking to. The psalms almost never open with the problem. They open with the name.

  2. Complaint

The unedited version. What is actually wrong, in the words you would use if nobody were listening.

  3. Request

Ask for something specific. The lament psalms are startlingly blunt here, and nothing softens it for you.

  4. Trust

Most laments turn toward hope. Psalm 88 never does. On a Psalm 88 day, leave this empty and the entry is still whole.

Beside it, the Library: ten short studies on how grief was practiced in scripture, from sackcloth and ashes to Psalm 88.

Your journal

Still here in ten years

A phone gets lost or replaced. The journal shouldn’t go with it.

Kept in your account

Sign in on a new phone with Google, Microsoft or email, and every entry is there.

Locked when you want

Open it with your phone’s screen lock, or give the journal a PIN of its own.

Yours to take

Export a PDF or a backup whenever you like. Deleting your account deletes everything in it.
